97_Bassblog 03: The [new] Anna Ross Project
Thanks to every one of my friends and family who came to the French Quarter Cafe last week to see us play! The Anna Ross Project has a new, more organic sound which we are really enjoying a LOT, with me on upright (it’s an Eminence small bodied bass with a pickup under the bridge), Germ on a real Rhodes, and Andy on cajone and other percussion. We stripped it down, and it feels good. I hope it felt good to you too.
For those of you who couldn’t make it, the second half of the show is archived at http://www.writerartist.com , although the streaming quality makes the video a little sketchy, even if the audio is decent.
But Jon put an excellent clip on YouTube. This is a song by the eclectic band Frou Frou (you may have heard of the lead singer – Imogen Heap – who wrote a song called Hide and Seek that was featured on The O.C. and climbed the pop charts in 2005 – not to mention being used by a middle tennessee Winter Guard for a stunning show that year) called “Let Go”; it’s one of the few covers in our our set and was the show closer last Thursday. It’s a great representation of the new sound.
Hope you enjoy it, and let me know what you think!
Let go and be free,
Jeff
